Ever since we started crafting custom furniture in San Diego, we’ve come to discover that not every company that advertises their products as “custom” actually makes truly custom furniture. Instead, what they often mean is that they sell products that are “customizable,” which is a bit different.

 What many furniture companies tend to offer is a select number of product designs, which can then be slightly modified. For example, they will offer a farmhouse-style dining room table design and allow customers to choose the tabletop dimensions and the stain color as a way to “customize” their order.

While these limited options may be fine for some customers, there are others who don’t want to compromise on the details, so they continue their search for a custom furniture company that will produce a piece of furniture that matches all of their specifications.

Of course, our customers may come to us with photos of existing pieces for inspiration, but those examples are often heavily modified to create something that is unique to them.
