What do you think of when you hear the term “custom furniture?” Do you think of an elaborate piece with a ton of ornate detail? Or maybe you picture an oversized table/bed/entertainment unit made to fit the scale of a large home with huge rooms and tall ceilings. Custom furniture pieces can certainly fall into those categories, but they don’t necessarily have to. Custom furniture simply refers to a one-of-a-kind piece that’s made especially for you and for your space.
People decide to have custom furniture built for a variety of reasons. Here are just a few of the reasons we’ve come across when working with clients in the San Diego area:
- They had a very specific idea in their heads and weren’t able to find exactly what they were looking for in stores.
- They needed an oddly sized piece to fit a unique space in their home.
- They wanted a piece built out of wood they had salvaged.
- They wanted a piece built out of a specific or rare wood species.
- They wanted a single statement piece or focal point for a certain room.
None of the clients referenced above own huge, fancy homes. Rather, they are owners of typical, single-family homes throughout the San Diego area. Most of the other pieces of furniture in their homes were likely purchased from retail stores. In other words, they don’t have custom homes filled exclusively with custom furniture. These are our typical clients. They splurge on just one special piece that makes a statement or fills a specific need. (Of course, if you need multiple pieces of custom furniture, we’re more than happy to help you out with that!)
Custom furniture doesn’t have to cost a fortune, either. Our prices are typically comparable to what you will find in mid- to high-end retail furniture stores in San Diego. However, if you choose an exotic hardwood for your custom furniture piece or want a lot of ornate detail, the price can start to go up. Regardless of the type of piece or its style, all the custom furniture we make is sturdy and made from quality materials and hardware.
We’re happy to provide you with a free quote on a custom piece for your home. Once you agree to the price, we will take a deposit and start designing! We will produce a realistic rendering of your piece for you to approve before we begin construction. Once it is completed, we will deliver it to your San Diego-area home at no extra charge.
