One of the great things about having custom furniture built for your San Diego home is that you get to choose all the details that go into your pieces—including what species of wood your piece is built out of. This definitely isn’t the case with retail furniture. If you find a design you like at a local store or online, you get the wood that the furniture company has decided you will get. Very few companies offer any options when it comes to wood species.
When you work with Three Pines Wood Co., on the other hand, not only can you choose the species of wood for your piece of custom furniture, but you can also choose the exact slabs of wood from which your piece will be built! You can select a slab that has all the characteristics you’re looking for, such as the perfect color and grain pattern.
Not sure what type of wood has the characteristics you want? We can definitely help you with that! You can tell us generally what you are looking for, and we can make suggestions. For example, do you want wood that is extremely hard so it holds up well under daily use, or wood that will do well being outdoors? Or do you want a species of wood that will contribute to the rustic look you are going for? Or maybe you have a specific color in mind. We can offer several suggestions for any of these requirements, and then you can choose the one you like best.
Just be aware that different species of wood come at different price points. Exotic wood species can get quite pricey, as can domestic species that are currently very sought after. (Right now, White Oak is that popular, pricey domestic option.) If affordability is a concern, let us know so we can keep that in mind as we make suggestions.
At our custom furniture shop, we keep always keep some slabs on hand—typically in the more sought-after varieties like Walnut, Pine, and Oak. However, if you want more options, including some exotic options, we are also happy to meet clients at local sawmills to select from their stock.
Once you’ve selected the wood you want for your custom furniture piece, we can then present you with stain options. We can even mix up a custom stain for you if you have a very specific color in mind—like if you want to match an existing piece in your home.
Being able to select the exact wood and stain color for your furniture is just one of the many advantages of having custom furniture built for your San Diego home! Ready to learn more or ready to get started on the design of your custom furniture? Contact us today at Three Pines Wood Co.
