Custom Live Edge Tables
A great option for either coffee tables, dining room tables, or entry tables is a live edge top. A live edge means that a slab of wood maintains its natural edge. Live edge tables are popular pieces in mid-century modern design, and provide a great amount of visual interest to whatever room they are placed in. It should also go without saying that live edge tables are truly one-of-a-kind! You can have a live edge table with the bark still on or have the bark removed—it’s up to you and your preference. With the bark removed, you will get a smoother finish along the edge.
Lest you think a live edge table will be rough and will constantly scratch your skin or snag your clothing, you should know that live edge tables typically have several layers of polyurethane or epoxy resin applied to them. This gives them a finish that is smooth to the touch, but still has a raw, organic look.
At Three Pines Wood Co., we have priority access to a local private sawmill that supplies us with the live edge wood we use in our custom tables. Customers who want to select their own slabs can come with us to the sawmill and see all of the available options.
